So my Mac power cord bit the dust recently. Since the lack of a charger renders my computer useless I had to go ahead and pick a new one. The price tag: $84.53. Good heavens.
Do you think that’s enough Mac? New Macbooks start at $999. If my math is correct that means the charger is almost 1/10 the price of a computer. Why so much for a charger? Just for the heck of it I did a quick search of Dell power cords. They seem to start in the $20 price range. So what are you saying Mac? That your power cord is worth 4 times a Dell power cord?
Of course since it’s a Mac product I had no third party alternates. I even found an article talking about a lawsuit Mac filed against third party cord makers. Real classy Mac. Heaven forbid somebody else makes a little money off your technology. Lord knows you don’t get enough cash from you ludicrous over priced software and hardware.
I guess the moral of the story is don’t break your power cord. Otherwise you might have to take out a second mortgage or sell all of your organs to cover the cost of a replacement.
